About Me

Taiwan LeRoi Brown is a one man social networking machine. During the dot-com boom he was a updater (the term used before "Blogging") for many popular entertainment websites. While writing about the newest movies and shows he began to learn web design. Journalism was only half his passion. Taiwan wanted to be an on-air presenter.

In 2003 he began "ShoutCasting" or being an on air DJ for multiple streaming web radio stations. Also in 2003, TaiwanBrown.com was launched. His personal site was created to keep his frequent readers updated on what site his latest post was on. Soon after a jump in unique visitors his sites focus changed to networking himself to the media industry. In 2004, he joined MySpace, followed by Facebook in 2005. Through out the years he used a combination of social sites and forums to promote himself, find castings, and network with other aspiring media personalities.

During his first visit to FuseTV's live show "Daily Download" VJ Steven Smith (Steven's Untitled Rock Show, The Weekly Riff) asked Taiwan during a commercial break what he wanted to be when he grew up. "A VJ," said Taiwan. Next thing he knew Taiwan was holding the mic and hosting the next segment of the show. Taiwan, overtaken with emotion, chatted with Steven live on-air about Fat Joe's "Lean Back" and then helped introduce the network's premier of Britney Spears' "My Prerogative." During this time he attended school at the Secondary School of Journalism developing his writing skills. He then transferred back to his original high school, Plainfield High School, to enroll in Graphic Arts, Web Design, and of course, TV Production. Soon after moving back to New Jersey a casting director from Fuse visited TaiwanBrown.com and seen a potential host in the making. The casting director called Taiwan for an interview. Though the interview did not lead to a job, Taiwan was still determine to break into show business.

After graduating high school Taiwan was cast to write and host an episode of the Dean'sList for MTV's college channel, mtvU, his leading accomplishment to date. Favorite videos from Jamiroquai, Lil' Wayne, Cassie and Cobra Starship are just a few of Taiwan's top ten choice picks.

Past celebrity host of the Dean'sList include Lupe Fiasco, Weird Al, Wyclef Jean, and Green Day.

Now in college he majors in Communications with a minor in TV Production. In 2006 he completed a 5 month live-in internship in production with Disney college program in Lake Buena Vista, FL. In 2009 he learned the inner workings of a music channel with an internship in production with the Fuse Television Network.

Taiwan is currently Omit Television's webcast OmitTV variety reporter. He reports on many topics in new media and entertainment. The show is mainly carried at OmitTV.com and syndicated among many video
sharing sites.
